07/22/02 Region 2 PAL DVD reviewed

I have finally finished the comparison between the two versions of Zardoz available on DVD. We have the R2 review and a side by side comparison chart online. I sure do like the clear Amaray casing on the R2.

06/25/02 Region 2 PAL DVD info updated

We have received our Region 2 review disc, so have updated the specs page (linked below). The review should be online in the next week or so.

06/20/02 Region 2 PAL DVD released

A region 2 DVD was released June 3, 2002. We have the official press release from Fox UK. I have added a specs page here, and have a copy coming for review.

I have also been busy revamping behind the scenes, and hope to have a major upgrade coming in the next month or so. The Japanese laserdisc info has been updated with new cover scans.

11/12/01 Maintenance

Not much new to report other than a couple of housekeeping issues. There is a backlog on some circuits. Time has been pretty limited lately. I have a whole ton of materials that are in the queue, but haven't gotten to yet.

07/16/01 Mailing list shut down

Microsoft is switching its formerly free Listbot service over to a paid mail server, and as a result we will be shutting this feature down.

04/28/01 Yes, we've sold out!

Well, I have broken down and added an affiliate link to CDNOW in an effort to somewhat defray the cost of keeping this site online. This was never meant to be a commercial website, but the cost to host Zardoz Online isn't getting any less expensive, so I figured one banner ad would be better than the popup windows and other crap I'd contend with on a free hosting service. Thanks to those of you who have bought things through the links.

03/28/01 Zardoz DVD cracks top 100 sales at Amazon.com!

The DVD cracked the top 100 ranks as of 11:53am PST Sales Rank (DVD): 94. Popular in: Illinois (#10) , New Zealand (#8). Reports from those trying to find the disc at local retailers are that supply seems pretty limited at this time.

03/27/01 Zardoz DVD released

The long awaited Zardoz DVD is now available at retail. It is hard to believe a year has passed already since the seeds for this were first sewn. Enjoy the DVD everyone!

01/19/01 Zardoz DVD officially announced

Image Entertainment (finally!) has Fox's official announcement for Zardoz. Please note that the 3.0 track is not a surround track as indicated, at least according to our check disc.

01/12/01 Street date change

If eternity wasn't enough, the wait for Zardoz just got a bit longer, with the disc now slated for a March 27 release. Define three weeks.

01/11/01 DVD Cover art and preorder pages are up

Fox has sent us the cover shot for their upcoming DVD release, and though I have very strong opinions on their decision, I am going to hold off commenting for the time being. I have also added a new preorder page with links to sites that have the disc available for order. Let me know if you find it available elsewhere.

Also, since the review went online, our weekly hit count has increased by over 600%, so there is obviously some interest in this release. I would like to thank DVDFile for including mention of the review on thier site today as well.

01//09/01 Net debut: Zardoz Online looks inside the Vortex

What has Arthur  being doing all these years? The day has finally come, and we take an exclusive look at Fox's Zardoz DVD for you. We have the complete disc specs here, and a full review of the disc's contents, including a couple of shots of the menus here. Has Fox delivered the goods?

Since the Digital Bits is confirming it, I can report now that Zardoz is set for release on March 20, 2001. I will post links to preorder sites as they become available. Expect the official announcement in the next few weeks. 

My sources indicate that the Zardoz DVD is now slated for a March 2701 release! The exact date and details on features have yet to be officially announced, but I can assure you that this will be one special disc for Zardoz fans.

We have something really cool in the works here that I can't reveal just yet, but when it goes online I'm sure a lot of you will be very pleasantly surprised! The photo updates I promised have been temporarily postponed due to an excess of work around the farm here, sorry about that, but they are coming.

We do have a tentative release date for the DVD which is currently sheduled for sometime in June 2001. I know that seems a long way off, but it does allow for a really great job to be done, and I know Fox are making a great effort to make this well worth the wait.

I also think I have finally fixed a glitch that was causing some of you to not be able to access the crew and promo sections.

According to a source at the 20th Century Fox, quote: "Fox have committed to bringing Zardoz to DVD in it's full anamorphic splendour!" If you have seen any of the work they have done recently on films like Butch Cassedy and the Sundance Kid, we are in for a real treat.

Major updates are in store, with addition of nearly 100 new still frames from Andrew Roberts. These will be added in batches over the next several weeks. 

Many of the items found on this site are harvested from ebay listings, including the new shot of the cover of a French 7" EP featuring Beethoven's Allegro from the 7th Symphony, the theme for Zardoz. I have linked this to the music page in the promotional section. We also have a new collection of rare photos from the collection of Andrew Roberts online in the advertising section.

According to The Digital Bits, Fox Home Video has indicated that Zardoz is currently in production for release on DVD. Efforts to get Zardoz released on DVD were given a major boost during a recent online chat with Fox Home Video at the Home Theater Forum, where Zardoz was repeatedly brought up as a title people wanted on DVD. Following the chat, Zardoz is now in production, though exact specifications and release dates are unknown at this time.
