A dream
has come true! Not more and not less. When I first got the
album in February 1991 it was a late winter afternoon. It
had just begun to snow and within an hour the world looked
different. The winter magic had just happened again. When
I held the album in my hands I had no real idea what to
expect, but after reading the review in the Giant's Lore
Fanzine (thanks to Eddi and Beate) great things were likely
to happen. And they happened. Of the sun + moon still puts
me into that cold and dark mood, a combination of crispy
cold winter nights where the world is lying under a white
linnen and all noises are swallowed by the snow and the
clear and starry night sky above. It evoked images never
"seen" before and these images still exist. I only listen
to this album in cold (preferably snowy) winter nights.
Songtitles like "In light of the moon", "Moon", "The reign
of night rainz" made this album mythical, these songtitles
express what Of the sun + moon is all about for me. My favourites
are "Legacy" and "The pressing", which is just hypnotic
and makes me see beyond what eyes can see, somehow a glimpse
of the edge of the universe where space, being and meaning
melt into one. It were always albums like these which let
me travel to the edge of existence that became part of my
life leaving behind a strong feeling of an unfulfilled yearning.
First
of all I made a tape dub because I knew that no CD was available
and it seemed as if it never would. I used this tape till
the end of 1997 when I bought me a Minidisc player. It gave
me the chance to keep a copy that would no longer deteriorate.
Over the years there was only one disc missing in my collection
and moreover it was one of my top three albums of all time.
The CD is available now and everybody who knows Sacred Blade«s
music will be smart enough to order a copy. If my CD collection
was a treasure chest (actually it«s MUCH MORE than that)
Of the sun + moon Lim.Ed. was the crown jewelry. Sacred
Blade's music is completely unique! Just listen ...
The
Giant«s Lore review from 1990 will soon be online, if you
can read German make sure to check it out. Once again: a
dream has come true!
